Racism in America: A chat I had on 9/27/07
- He-Man: haha no I just remembered, they say the exact opposite to my face
- He-Man: waiting for the race war to break out
- me: lol
- me: if obama gets elected, it will surely come
- He-Man: haha no it won't
- me: you undermine the power of the redneck
- He-Man: I think that'll be the last stroke against those idiots waiting for it, they won't have any firepower left
- me: those alabama boys will want to secede
- He-Man: there are actually a lot of intelligent people in the south contrary to popular belief
- He-Man: I think the idiots are becoming a minority
- me: no
- me: they jus don't come out as often
- He-Man: and it really hasn't been socially acceptable for white people to be racist for nearly a full generation, not to say those attitudes don't exist but they're changing
- me: !!!
- me: no
- me: sorry
- me: :)
- me: they are changing on the surface
- He-Man: you don't think so?
- me: s/think/know
- He-Man: it's not just surface
- me: when 12 year old children feel fine throwing nigger out as an insult
- He-Man: how people act on the surface becomes how they think after awhile
- [...]
- He-Man: yeah but the thing is I think whites are becoming much better, and a lot of the shit that white people get is for being ignorant rather than actually racist
- He-Man: they just really don't know any better in a lot of cases, the flyover states people don't grow up knowing anything about other races because they never encounter them
- me: yes
- me: and then they get all educated
- me: but hey, whats wrong with calling you colored?
- He-Man: they don't know though
- He-Man: you can't be angry at that, they don't mean it maliciously
- He-Man: they think it's ok because it's all they know
- He-Man: if you told them it was bad they'd stop
- me: ah
- me: but no
- me: unfortunately thats untrue
- me: like those little twins that sing about white power
- He-Man: you're using extreme example, I'm talking about ordinary people
- me: im talking ordinary people too
- me: you can't change learned behavior
